Screening first, then a defensible rationale.
Before treatment, your medical history, medicines, allergies, kidney and cardiac history, pregnancy status and relevant blood results are reviewed where indicated. Observations are taken and the exact ingredients, diluent, compatibility, dose and infusion rate are confirmed. A cannula is inserted using aseptic technique and the infusion is monitored throughout.
It is considered only for clinician-assessed indications where the proposed ingredients and route are appropriate, and for hydration or nutrient replacement where there is a defensible clinical rationale.
Expected effects depend on the exact formulation and indication. Claims such as detoxing, boosting immunity, reversing ageing or treating disease are not made here. If a deficiency or medical condition is suspected, appropriate investigation and conventional treatment remain the priority.
Contraindications depend on the ingredients but can include significant renal or cardiac disease, fluid restriction, electrolyte disturbance, relevant allergy, pregnancy or breastfeeding for some formulations, active infection, unstable medical illness or an inability to obtain safe venous access.
